2003-03-07: CeBIT 2003: New software for optical storage media

PoINT Software & Systems offers preview of upcoming Publisher and Jukebox Manager release

PoINT at the CeBIT 2003, March 12-19, Hannover, Germany: Hall 1, booth 5g4

SIEGEN, Germany, March 7, 2003. At the CeBIT in hall 1, booth 5g4, PoINT Software & Systems GmbH of Siegen will be presenting a preview of the Publisher version 6 as well as the Jukebox Manager version 4.1 release planned for this coming spring.

As professional recording software for mass production or on-demand publishing of CD and DVD media the PoINT Publisher version 6.0 was enhanced with two essential features. For one a multi volume recording feature was added to the automated recording process (ECR = Event-Controlled Recording). In case the volume of a file-directory would exceed the capacity of a CD or DVD, the volume recording enables the automatic storage on several similar media without to car about the used capacity of the separate media. In addition, PoINT incorporated a label editor into Publisher, which integrates itself seamlessly into the system. With the label editor templates fixed texts, images as well as variable text (such as serial numbers or address data) can be dynamically integrated and printed. And the Software Development Kit (SDK) included in Publisher 6.0 supports MP3 files for the production of audio CDs.

The PoINT Jukebox Manager release 4.1 lists numerous enhancements especially for file archiving on CD and DVD media. For example, for all incrementally written media PoINT developed a UDF bridge finalization that makes media written in UDF format downward-compatible and thus readable for operating systems that were designed for ISO9660 or JOLIET-standards only. Another advantage of the new version of the Jukebox Manager for the user: It gives him the option on preserving all content in the read cache during the writing/burning process, what means a significant increase in performance. Like the Publisher the Jukebox Manager was also enhanced with the Multi Volume ECR. In addition, double-sided DVD-R support, which so far is in use for incrementally writing, has also been integrated into the multi volume ECR.
