2006-10-05: China Construction Bank Archives Data With PoINT Jukebox Manager
Siegen. The storage specialist PoINT Software & Systems GmbH has received a major order from the China Construction Bank (CCB). Ranging in China under Top 3 banks and internationally under Top 15 banks, CCB requires a capacity of 450 TB of data to be archived in the context of an audit project. This data generates from an Enterprise Content Management-System currently in use. PoINT Jukebox Manager, a software solution used for the secure archival of business critical data, will be installed in the Chinese version. For China Construction Bank the most decisive factor to decide for PoINT Jukebox Manager was the performance of the software product as regards the file volume: PoINT Jukebox Manager passed a trial run with about 750.000.000 files without any problems. This project is run in China by Human Interactive Technologies GmbH, a longstanding partner of PoINT Software & Systems GmbH.
Other decisive criteria to opt for PoINT were, besides the stability of the product, the fast reaction to customer requirements. Furthermore, PoINT Jukebox Manager fulfils the demanding expectations of up-to-date archive systems (e.g. mirroring and server clustering).
China Construction Bank intends to store the files on Double Layer DVD-media with PoINT Jukebox Manager, implementing about 120 Netzon GMS3560 Jukeboxes supplied by Human Interactive Technologies GmbH.
PoINT Jukebox Manager Allows Secure Data Archival – Manipulation Impossible
Enterprises will be able to archive their files fast and safely with PoINT Jukebox Manager. In this process, files will be stored on WORM-media. This way, the data cannot be changed physically and thus manipulation is impossible. Optional mirroring creates jukebox manager media with same contents, which can be stored in two different locations in two different jukebox systems, if requested. For example, the jukeboxes can be positioned in two separated fire protection areas, which increases the level of data security even more. Additionally, data will remain on hard disk as long as the optical media has been written completely and flawlessly. The individual archive application will access the data over the file system as usually. Jukebox Manager supports various technologies and media, among them CD, DVD, Magnetical Optical Disc (MO), Professional Disc for Data (PDD), Ultra Density Optical (UDO) as well as Blu-Ray Discs (BD).
