Enhanced Functionality

Besides the described features PoINT Storage Manager offers additional optional agents and functions:

• PoINT NetApp FAS Agent
  The PoINT NetApp FAS agent functionality of the PoINT Storage Manager processes transparent file removal according to configured rules. Thereby, files removed from the NetApp FAS system are substituted by so-called “stubs” (references) and filed securely on the second level storage, e.g. Blu-ray disc jukebox. This concept especially matches the “single path” requirement – changes in applications are unnecessary.

• PoINT TAFS Agent
  By using the PoINT TAFS Agent it is possible to integrate existing primary storage systems into a tiered storage architecture (e.g. for data migration or protection).

• Clustering
  The Clustering option of PoINT Storage Manager supports the Microsoft Cluster Service (MSCS) and enables therefore an automatic server-failover when a server point breaks down. The storage system administrated by PoINT Storage Manager is thus even during a server-failure operable.
