PoINT Software & Systems is specialized in the development and distribution of software products for storage, management and long-term archiving of data using all available mass storage technologies like hard disks / flash, magnetic tapes, optical media, object store and cloud storage. We work jointly together with leading manufacturers of storage systems. Thus, we can offer an early support of innovative storage technologies. Furthermore, we plan entire storage solutions and provide consultancy with our long-term and versatile expertise.
PoINT products allow efficient usage of storage systems and help to reduce costs and issues caused by data growth. The software solutions fulfil compliance and archiving requirements and provide independence from storage technologies and vendors. PoINT products are distributed by our partners world-wide and have been proven in more than two million installations. Our customers include many well-known companies from different industries, who comply with our solutions their complex demands by providing the necessary reliability and perfection.
COMPANY HISTORY
Already since 1985, PoINT Software & Systems has been successful with software solutions in the storage field. Initially being a world-wide acting Competence Center of Philips mainly in the field of optical storage and afterwards included in the European project organization of Digital Equipment (DEC) GmbH.
Besides the development of innovative software products for the CD-recordable, our team has affected significantly the establishment and standardization of all essential CD technologies.
This division was divested from Digital Equipment in 1994, with PoINT keeping all products and corresponding rights and being taken over by former leading staff and by establishing PoINT Software & Systems GmbH on December 5th, 1994 it was continued as an independent company.
Since its establishment PoINT Software & systems GmbH has developed under Bernd Klee as CEO / Geschäftsführer into an internationally recognized software manufacturer in the storage market. After more than 20 years Mr. Klee has retired from his position as CEO by the end of 2015 and handed over his business to Thomas Thalmann by January 1st, 2016. We are pleased that Mr. Klee continues to be assiocated with the Company as shareholder.

A company is only as good as its workers. This is the reason why PoINT Software & Systems attach such great importance to its staff. It does not matter whether it is in development, support, quality assurance, administration, public relations, product marketing or sales.
The specialized skills of our staff with their on-going training are a natural matter of course for us. Für PoINT stellt Forschung ein zentrales Element dar, um die Zukunftsfähigkeit vorhandener Produktlinien abzusichern und Kunden auch langfristig innovative Lösungen bereitzustellen. Aus diesem Grund beteiligt sich PoINT an Forschungsprojekten und arbeitet mit renommierten Universitäten zusammen, wie der im Rahmen der Exzellenzinitiative zur Eliteuniversität ernannten TU Dresden.
Das Engagement von PoINT für Deutschland als starken Forschungs- und Innovationsstandort wurde mit der Verleihung des Siegels „Innovativ durch Forschung“ gewürdigt, das der Stifterverband für die deutsche Wissenschaft, einer der größten privaten Wissenschaftsförderer Deutschlands, vergibt.
